Fifth Grade Newsletter

March 24, 2008

 

READING:  In Reading we will be finishing the Theme and Skills Tests.  We will be beginning Theme 4 Catastrophe.

 

MATH: In Math, we will continue working on comparing fractions.  We will begin working with mixed numbers. 

 

ENGLISH:  In English, we will be working on compound words, subject-verb agreement, and cause and effect.

 

RELIGION: In Religion, we will begin using the Family Life book,  

 

SPELLING:  In Spelling, we will be working on Unit 23. Just a reminder every Wednesday we have a pretest, and every Friday we have the unit test.  In order to prepare for both of these tests homework is assigned every week accordingly. Homework-  Tuesday- all spelling words should be written 3xeach (including challenge words) Thursday- ABC order

 

SCIENCE:  In Science, we will be completing Chapter 5.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES: In Social Studies we will begin Chapter 6 Life in the British Colonies. Students will be working in groups to describe and illustrate life in a city or town in the British colonies.  The students will be asked to present their posters to the class.
