Class News

Kindergarten students have been enjoying Book-Show-n-Tell.  We have read stories about bears not doing their homework, monkey’s monkeying around, one shy little kitten, 100 days of school and an elephant who hears a “who”.  I can’t wait to see what this month brings.  Please remember – if your student misses his/her Book-Show-n-Tell day, I will send home make-up dates for June.

1st grade students will continue to review fiction and nonfiction books and begin looking at biographies and autobiographies.

2nd grade students received a chart to help them keep track of their reading for the month of May.  They should be reading at least 15 minutes everyday.

3rd grade & 4th grade students will look at the differences between biographies, autobiographies and collective biographies.

5th & 6th grade will look at the concepts and parts of a story.  We will review the terms plot, theme, setting and genre.

7th grade have been working on vocabulary worksheets for Mrs. Ogurick in the computer lab.

8th grade are wrapping up their research on Latin America topics.

Merci beaucoup…

Julia (1st), Alyssa (4th) & Nick (6th) for their book donations

Katie & Julie (5th) for cleaning the windowsills in the library for Earth Day

Mr. Gambardella for his donation of books

&

Mrs. McGrath for her donation of bookmarks to the library…

our supply was getting low

Etc.

**During the month of May we celebrate Newbery Award winning books.  Our Newbery books will be on display the entire month. Try to encourage your students to borrow one of these outstanding books.  We have many to choose from.

**Many students have overdue and lost library books.  If you are one, please return or replace your books ASAP.  The end of the year will be here before you blink.
